About justification of oily-gaseous perspective of deep lying Meso-Cenozoic deposits of Azerbaijan

Research and exploration of new hydrocarbon fields in Meso-Cenozoic deposits lying deeper than 4.5 km in Azerbaijan are an important issue of oil geology. As section and oil-gaseous nature of deep laying Jurassic, Cretaceous, Palaeogene - Neogene and Pliocene aged deposits widely spread in the territory of country and with great depth was studied by few wells, their hydrocarbon potential remains not quite mastered. Deep loying deposit complexes of the area are distinguished by different lithofacial and structural-tectonic characteristics, paleotectonic and geo-chemical deposit accumulation conditions. Therefore, main factors of oily-gaseous nature were investigated in complex with purpose of finding out oily-gaseous perspective of deep loying horizons and increasing the efficiency of research and exploration work. Oily-gaseous nature of terrigene and fissured carbonate containing reservoirs lying deeper than 4.5 km was justified and proposals were made for carrying out deep drilling works and geo-physical studies in most perspective areas.
