The article deals with the issue of forming of oil-gas structures in South Caspian depression. Based on critical approach to the views of previous researches and obtained via experimental investigations data on study of plasticity of clay of paleogene-neogene sediments, a range of justified conclusions regarding forming of brachyanticlinal and dome-type structures has been made. These structures are classified as diapir.
