The paper gives a comparative analysis of functions and technical characteristics of the following controllers and control stations most widely used in the oilfields of the CIS countries for oil wells operated by sucker rod pumps: ASUS-02, Intel-SUS, RM SRPU, controllers KTS-1, Mega, NUR and the control device SK developed and manufactured in the CIS countries. The authors also review modern foreign automated equipment for SRP, such as LWM VSD and REGEN control stations based on SAM Well Manager controller; control station with frequency converter ePAC II and WellPilot manufactured by Weatherford; VLT SALT control station by Danfoss. The development of control stations have been identified to tend to application of frequency converters and watt metering for diagnostics of equipment faults. The expediency of using RM SRPU stations in Azerbaijan is described.
