The issue of researching and revealing of chemical and mineralogical content of Upper Jurassic coral reefs in the Caucasus and Crimea is of great importance from theoretical and practical points of view. The chemical and mineralogical content of reef buildings of Upper Jurassic in South-East Caucasus have been studied via X-ray difrastometric and X-ray spectral methods. In the result of conducted research works, it has been established that 95 % of reef buildings consist of CaO. It has been also revealed that the reef buildings of Upper Jurassic is of calcium content. It is a unique phenomenon that after post-sedimentation changes fossil reefs have biogenic calcium content.
