The first mentioning about oil-bearing characteristic of Naphthalan lifting, located in Ganja OGBR (oil and gas bearing region) in the foothills of the Lower Caucasus zone, where relief on south and south-west rises to 350-482 m, is associated with surface showings of oil and gas, confined to outcrops of Aghjagil bedrocks. In the geological structure of the investigated area the sediments from the Upper Cretaceous to Quaternary participate. Tectonically this structure represents asymmetrical brachyanticlinal fold. Oil and gas potential of Naphthalan field generally associated with the Upper Cretaceous carbonate reservoir rocks and the Paleogene-terrigenous and carbonate reservoir rocks. However, from drilled on this area wells oil was extracted only from different horizons of the Maikop Suite (the Oligocene-Lower Miocene deposits), reservoir parameters of which are studied insufficiently. The complex geological and geophysical data interpretation results, considered in this article, allow clarifying the geological structure, the tectonic conditions of its formation and the petrophysical characteristics at the separated intervals of the geological section. Presented investigation results will help to define the perspectives and directions of further exploration survey on this area in whole.
