On availability of volcano-tectonic traps in Yevlakh-Aghjabedy depression

Considering the fact that in many petroleum basins of the world dozens of revealed oil-gas fields are associated with unconventional trap types, among which are volcanogenic formations, it is reasonable to carry out adequate studies in this direction in Azerbaijan as well. The extensive development of volcanogenic rocks associations in Yevlakh-Aghjabedy depression, as well as in Muradkhanly-Zardob area, is shown. The aspects of unconventional traps associated with volcanogenic structures have been considered. On the basis of the gravity-magnetic surveys conducted in this region, geometrical arrangement of volcanogenic associations within structural cross-section of the region have been identified, as well as their significance in formation of favorable volcano-tectonic traps for hydrocarbon accumulations justified.
