Shale hydrocarbon complex of Azerbaijan

The conducted investigations allowed firstly considering with a new position the sand estimation of Maikop complex potential of Azerbaijan deposits and talking about it as a possible source of shale hydrocarbons. It was defined that more perspective oil and gas bearing regions for formation and accumulation of shale hydrocarbon deposits are the territories of Yevlakh-Aghjabedy trough, probably Kura and Gabyrry interfluves within the Central Kura depression, as well as northern and central parts of Shamakhy-Gobustan oil-gas bearing region, in the borders of which it is supposed to carry out more detailed and purposeful complex research for the search and exploration of shale hydrocarbons related to Maikop series of sediments.
