Oil sector plays an important role in sustainable development strategy of any oil producing country worldwide. However, the probability of accidents, force-majeure risks and other unexpected cases in such countries developing in high speed is unavoidable. In order to minimize the impact on environment and economy of the country, the preparation, notification and execution of plans on oil spills and their elimination become necessary in the result of such cases. The goal of oil spill elimination is not only to minimize the direct damage to the environment and surrounding local communities, but also operatively restore already affected environment. Besides, definition and accurate calculation of spilled oil volume in accidents, management organization of their elimination are considered the major factors. The issues of preparation for oil spill elimination and taking appropriate measures, definition of spilled oil volume, and selection of tactics and organization of failures elimination management are discussed in the article.
