Lubricating oils provide an environment conducive to microorganism growth, prevention techniques are vital to minimize the threat of contamination and facilitate trouble-free, consistent operations. Both chemical and physical methods are available, and often a combination of various methods is warranted when trying to establish and maintain microbiological control. The use of antimicrobial pesticides is the most common method for controlling microbiological growth in lubricating oils.
