Giant hydrocarbon fields and geological justification of probability of their presence in the South Caspian basin

To fully cover the data of the oil-gas bearing basins with giant fields, some parameters of them have been considered within the World Ocean; the materials used are justified with the results of up-to-date real and statistical and exploration surveys as well.
According to the analysis of the surveys, it was revealed that the distribution of such fields in the territory of the oil-gas basins located in the same geographical space is genetically identical to the regularities of their distribution in the area of other basins not associated with each other.
The South Caspian basin, where the great majority of the oil-gas resources of Azerbaijan are fixed, the thickness of the sedimentary cover, the volume of accumulated sedimentation complex, thermobaric conditions, the history of geotectonic development, the cover depth of oil-gas bearing horizons, geometrical dimensions of natural reserves, the capacity of the reserves, filtration characteristics of collectors etc. by their parameters hold a specific place among the oil-gas bearing basins of the World Ocean with the giant fields.
